Is there a waiting list for applications? Yes - wait list times vary - the sooner you apply the sooner you will be living at Legion Manor Are pets allowed? Legion Manor allows a cat or small dog in our first floor suites. There is a $300 security deposit. The John Anderson Housing allows only small birds such as budgies and canaries. Is there 24 hour staffing or medical care on site? Legion Manor has a 24/7 emergency response system. We do not provide 24 hour staffing or medical care. Where are the meals prepared? All meals are prepared on-site by our professional staff. Legion Manor does not contract out food services like many similar residents. We take pride in using local food, prepared fresh and to exacting standards by our Chef. Do I have to belong to the Legion or be a Veteran to qualify? No, our housing is open to all individuals 55 years of age and up. No extra consideration is given if the person applying is a veteran. Are there any income restrictions? For Legion Manor there is no income ceiling. The John Anderson Housing has a ceiling of $2200 gross income per month. Are tours available? Legion Manor gladly offers tours; we are unable to offer tours of John Anderson Housing. Call to book an appointment. How large are the suites? All suites are one bedroom. The average size is 550 square feet. Are there stores nearby? Saanichton offers a Thrifty's grocery store, medical clinics, pharmacies, financial institutions and more. It is approximately 0.6 kilometres away. To assist people in getting to shopping we have three four whell scooters that residents can borrow at no charge. There is also great bus service right on East Saanich Rd, one bus heading north to Central Saanich and Sidney, and the south bound bus heads to the Royal Oak exchange. See the transit map below.
